Course Overview

3aaa Apprenticeships have worked with employers including TaxAssist franchisees, Charles Wells and XPO Logistics and AAT to design and develop our unique Accounting Apprenticeship.

Over this 15 month Apprenticeship, participants will cover topics allowing them to develop skills and master complex financial processes such as; final accounts, reports and returns, spreadsheet use for accountants, VAT returns and professional ethics.

Modules

Module One

Ethics for Accounting

In this module, you will understand the need to act ethically, understand the relevance to the accountants work of the ethical code professional accountants and identify action to take in relation to unethical behaviour.

Module Two

Spreadsheets for Accountants

For this, you will learn how to use relevant tools to manipulate and analyse data, design and structure spreadsheets to meet customer needs and use tools to prepare and report accounting information.

Module Three

Management Accounting: Costing

In this module, you will demonstrate an understanding of internal reporting, differentiate between cost classifications for different purposes and record and calculate overhead costs.

Module Four

Advanced Bookkeeping

You will understand the basic principles of accounting including the accounting equation, understand VAT and payroll accruals and understand the difference between capital and revenue.

Module Five

Final Accounts Preparation

In this module, you will understand the format of the accounts for sole traders, understand partnership accounts and have a detailed look into incomplete records.

Module Six

Indirect Tax

This will allow you to understand the nature of VAT, explain how an organisation should interact with the HMRC, look into VAT documentation and VAT errors.

Learning & Assessment

This Apprenticeship will last for 15 months, with the Apprentice coming into their local Academy throughout the programme. In these sessions, there will be masterclasses held by industry experts as well as visits to the workplace every 8-12 weeks.

During the Apprenticeship, there will be 6 examinations throughout:

  • x2 Level 2 Bookkeeping
  • x4 Level 3 Diploma

Are you eligible?

To be accepted into the 3aaa Apprenticeships’ applicant pool, you must hold 5 GCSEs (graded A* to C or 9 to 5) or equivalent.

This must include English and Maths and you must demonstrate a proven passion for accountancy.

Hire an Accountancy Apprentice

Hiring an Accountancy Apprentice will support your business accounting needs, providing internal and external support.

We can work with you to source a suitable applicant for your business or you can up-skill your existing employees. If the Apprentice is under 19 and your business has less than 50 employees, there will be no cost for the training. If they are over 19 and/or your business has over 50 employees then you will contribute 10% towards the cost of the training.

National Insurance Contribution rebate for Apprentices

Did you know that you could claim back the National Insurance Contributions for your Apprentices depending on their age? If your business has hired an Apprentice since 6th April 2016, who is aged under 25 and is enrolled on an Apprenticeship, you can claim back your National Insurance Contributions for them. Depending on the salary of your Apprentice, this could amount to a significant saving. By changing your employer contribution category for Apprentices who meet these criteria you will save your business money.
