APPRENTICE WAGE SOARS IN ITS BIGGEST INCREASE TO DATE

Last week, on the 1st of October, the National Apprenticeship minimum wage increased yet again, however this time in its biggest increase to date. The wage, which was originally £2.73 per hour has now risen to £3.30 per hour.

Sajid Javid, Conservative MP and Secretary of State for Business, described the reasoning for the increase as a testament to the Apprentices hard work and dedication, “As a one-nation Government we are making sure that every part of Britain benefits from our growing economy and today more than 1.4 million of Britain’s lowest-paid workers will be getting a well-deserved pay rise.

The increase for Apprentices is the largest in history, making sure that Apprenticeships remain an attractive option for young people, while the National Minimum Wage will see the largest real-terms increase since 2007.”

By increasing the wage by such a considerable amount, government officials aim to put Apprenticeships in the same wage bracket as a lot of other jobs. Although Apprenticeships are gaining more and more momentum as the years go on, there is still some underlying sense of doubt that Apprenticeships are not held in the same esteem as university degrees. By increasing the wages of Apprentices and creating yet more Apprentice job opportunities nationally, Apprenticeships will continue to rise in popularity

For years, all of us at 3aaa have spoken of the value an Apprentice can bring to local businesses, with Apprentices being some of the most dedicated and hardworking team members of many organisations.
