3aaa Apprenticeship
Friday 18th May 2018
On Tuesday 15th May 2018, we hosted our latest Apprenticeship Levy Conference at Wembley Stadium, in what was our largest and most successful Levy conference to date.
The conference, themed ‘A Year in the Life of the Apprenticeship Levy’ was designed to update our guests on the Levy’s first 12 months and to offer predictions and advice for the future. We listened to our partners’ feedback from previous conferences and based the day around interactive workshops, networking and success stories from relevant organisations.
The day started with Mark Dawe, Chief Executive of the AELP delivering an engaging policy update as well as his thoughts on 20% off-the-job, an insight into the sector as a whole and his predictions for the coming months. Mark said “Transition in policy is always painful and we are going through massive transition in the Apprenticeship world currently. We thoroughly believe the Levy policy is excellent, it is here to stay and we need to work with it and embrace it”.
Phil Barnfather, Talent and Development Director at Greencore then spoke to the audience about their Levy journey, a year in and shared best practice of how they approached and implemented the Levy. You can see Greencore’s video in full below:
After a short networking break, Mark Novels, Head of Awarding Organisation Compliance at AAT gave our guests a valuable insight into AAT’s approach to End-point assessment and discussed their qualifications in more detail. This was followed by Peter Marples, our very own Group CEO speaking to the audience about his views on the first year of the Levy and his predictions for the coming 12 months. Peter said “Over the next 12 -24 months, we see MSP or Lead Provider relationships really taking over and driving forward as a concept, allowing employers access to a consistent, high-quality service.”
After the networking lunch break, our guests then enjoyed an interactive 20% off-the-job workshop with our Co-Founders, Peter Marples and Di McEvoy-Robinson, aimed at helping our partners ‘demystify’ the concept. The workshop proved to be a great success as guests were split into teams as they worked through a number of different relevant situations. The event then culminated with a tour of the fantastic Wembley Stadium.
Our regular Levy Conferences take place to inform and inspire our delegates and give them an excellent platform to network with industry experts as well as sharing their experiences with other organisations. Our next three conferences will be held on Wednesday 12th September 2018, Wednesday 28th November 2018 and Friday 15th March 2019. More information will be released shortly regarding the location, agenda and themes for the day.
