3aaa present KS4 Boy of the Year at the National Enterprise Challenge 2015
On Wednesday 8th July, we were delighted to present Mohammed Dagham with the Key Stage 4 Boy of the Year award at the National Enterprise Challenge Final 2015.
We also sponsored the presenters of the grand final at Alton Towers. This year the sponsors were magician Ben Hanlin from ITV2’s ‘Tricked’ along with X Factor pop group ‘Only the Young’. The Ryman National Enterprise Challenge is an inter-school national competition, supported by the award’s main ambassador, Dragons Den’s Theo Paphitis.
In 2015, the challenge has seen over 30,000 aspirational students take part and compete for a place at Wednesday’s prestigious grand final. The TNEC team travelled to schools all over the country delivering the Ryman & Leather Satchel Co. challenge to KS3 students in Y7 & Y8 which was all about creating the perfect leather satchel or bag for a school based target market.
There was a range of great pitches for the KS3 challenge but in the end only 4 groups made the final session in the afternoon. The winners were the girls from Beauchamps School who impressed the judges with their idea of ‘The Muff Bag’.
This year, Alton Towers supported the event with the main grand final being held on the lawns overlooking the lake and the towers. The Alton Towers resort also supported the KS4 challenge for Y9 & Y10 students where they were tasked with creating the next world first attraction for thrill seekers in the park – the students had to work towards a £15million budget and some phenomenal ideas were bought to the table.
The Greig City Academy were the winners in the KS4 group with their ride idea called the Spiral which was based around the old legend of the Alton Towers clown, Sylvester Collins.
All in all, it was a great day as everybody came together to celebrate the success of young people and the great ideas that they had on show. The founders of this challenge started it for just this reason, to showcase the amazing things that young people can do when given the chance, both in teams and individually.
