Graduation

Over 200 further graduates from our NITP IT Centres across the country graduated at the end of July. We are delighted that over 70% of these graduates have continued to develop their careers with their employers and the remaining 30% have gone on to Higher Education. We wish them look in their continued career choices.

Peter Marples commented ‘ our national success rate is over 90%. All of our Apprentices gain jobs with local employers and whilst some decide to leave at the end of their programmes to move to Higher Education, many remain with their employers and develop their careers – this is particularly pleasing. We cannot do this without the commitment from employers, the hard work of the Apprentices themselves and equally importantly our staff. The hard work does not stop however, with another 225 Apprentices commencing their 12 month programmes in July and we are delighted that we have secured full time employment for all of these Apprentices’

Social Media

We are delighted to welcome Aquil Rose to our organisation. Aquil has recently completed his degree and joins us to lead on an exciting project in relation to Social Media

We are expecting some really exciting developments in how we communicate with our Apprentices, Employers and other stakeholders in the forthcoming months

Di McEvoy Robinson commented ‘ all of our Apprentices are keen and fully conversant with social media, its power and magnetism. As a business, we want to be at the forefront on these developments and we are excited that Aquil has joined us to lead on this project. We look forward to his early recommendations and most importantly implementation of those recommendations’

Accountancy apprenticeships have doubled since 2007

The Financial Skills Partnership (FSP) has released data which shows that over the past five years accountancy firms have almost doubled the number of apprentices they employ.

3,710 apprentices were employed by accountancy firms in 2007, a figure which rose to almost 7,000 by the end of 2012.

FSP chief executive Liz Field believes that hiring school-leavers is beneficial because they are more likely to stay loyal to the company. Additionally she said that school-leavers tend to be more “realistic” about the salary.

Apprenticeship schemes are offered in firms both large and small across the sector. Apprentices train for five years, earning a wage and gaining professional qualifications.
